India Bullet Train Set for Testing by May-June Next Year

India Bullet Train testing is expected to begin by May or June next year, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said at the NaMo for Viksit Bharat event. According to Vaishnaw, the first body frame of India’s indigenous bullet train has been completed and sent for a squeeze test, marking a significant step in the country’s high-speed rail programme.

The Union Minister said the development of the train reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, with India working towards developing and manufacturing its own high-speed train technology.

Vaishnaw said that after the initial testing phase, the country’s own bullet train could be inaugurated by the Prime Minister.

India Bullet Train Development Enters Key Phase

Speaking at the event, Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the progress being made in the development of India’s own bullet train.

He said the first body frame of the India Bullet Train was completed recently and subsequently sent for a squeeze test. The testing is expected to assess the strength and performance of the train body before the project moves towards further stages of development.

The minister described the development as an important achievement under the broader vision of self-reliance in advanced transportation technology.

The focus on indigenous production is also linked to the government's larger Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, which seeks to expand domestic manufacturing and technological capabilities across different sectors.

First Body Frame Completed

According to Vaishnaw, the completion of the first body frame represents an important milestone in the development process.

The train will undergo a series of tests before being deployed for passenger services. These tests are expected to help engineers evaluate the train's performance and ensure that the necessary technical standards are met.

The minister said India’s own bullet train is expected to reach the tracks for testing by May or June next year.
