The Indian trio finished second behind China. Their performance also placed India ahead of Japan, which finished third. The result marked an early medal for the Indian shooting contingent and opened the country’s medal account at the Games.

Elavenil Valarivan Wins Individual Silver
Elavenil Valarivan added another silver medal later in the women’s 10m air rifle individual final. The Indian shooter finished the final with 252.4 points, narrowly missing out on the gold medal.
Japan’s Hinata Taichi won gold with 253.0 points, while South Korea’s Hyojin Ban completed the podium. Elavenil therefore finished the opening day with two silver medals from the same shooting discipline.
The individual silver was another significant result for Elavenil, who had already contributed to India’s team9 silver earlier in the day. Her performance made her one of the standout Indian athletes on the opening day of competition.
