In a significant move to modernise postal logistics, the Department of Posts on Tuesday introduced three premium delivery services with assured timelines for urgent consignments. The services—24 Speed Post, 24 Speed Post Parcel, and 48 Speed Post—were formally launched by Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. The rollout will initially cover six major metropolitan cities—Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad—with plans for further expansion in the coming phases. To ensure strict adherence to delivery timelines, the Department will leverage dedicated mail processing systems along with priority air transport. Speaking at the launch, Scindia described the initiative as a “moment of renewal” for India Post, highlighting the vast growth potential in the logistics sector. He noted that India’s e-commerce market is projected to reach ₹30 lakh crore by 2030, nearly tripling from its current valuation of ₹11 lakh crore. The newly introduced services come equipped with advanced features aimed at enhancing reliability and customer experience. These include OTP-based delivery verification, real-time SMS alerts, and comprehensive end-to-end tracking. To cater to business clients, India Post is also offering flexible solutions such as ‘Book Now, Pay Later (BNPL)’, centralised billing, and seamless API integration. Additionally, bulk shippers will benefit from free pickup services, while customers will be assured a money-back guarantee in case of delivery delays. The launch signals India Post’s strategic push to strengthen its position in the rapidly expanding logistics and e-commerce ecosystem, while improving service efficiency for both individual and enterprise users.
