India Women Crowned Asia Cup Champions After 72-Run Win Over Sri Lanka

India women's cricket team celebrates winning the Asia Cup after defeating Sri Lanka in Dubai

India are Asian champions once again. Harmanpreet Kaur's team produced a dominant all-round performance to defeat Sri Lanka by 72 runs at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, securing their eighth Women's Asia Cup title with an unbeaten campaign.

India's victory was set up by a sensational opening partnership between Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana. The pair tore apart the Sri Lankan bowling attack, putting together 129 runs for the opening wicket—the highest opening partnership for any wicket in the history of the Women's T20 Asia Cup.

Shafali Verma Leads India's Batting Assault

Shafali Verma delivered a spectacular performance in the final, smashing 68 runs from just 39 balls. Her innings included a blistering 24-ball half-century, the fastest fifty recorded in Women's T20 Asia Cup history.

Her explosive contribution earned her the Player of the Match award. Shafali also made an impact with the ball later in the innings, dismissing Hasini Perera.

Her outstanding tournament overall earned her the prestigious Player of the Tournament award.

Sri Lanka Collapse Under India's Bowling Pressure

Chasing a daunting 184-run target, Sri Lanka struggled to establish momentum against India's disciplined bowling attack.
Young left-arm spinner Shree Charani produced the standout bowling performance, claiming a career-best four-wicket haul and dismantling the Sri Lankan middle order.
Veteran all-rounder Deepti Sharma further tightened India's grip on the contest as Sri Lanka were eventually bowled out for 111, handing India a comprehensive 72-run victory.

India Back on Top in Asian Cricket

The triumph represents a powerful comeback for Harmanpreet Kaur's side. After the disappointment of Dambulla, India responded in emphatic fashion in Dubai, producing a flawless tournament campaign and reclaiming their position at the summit of women's cricket in Asia.

With Shafali's explosive batting, Charani's breakthrough spell and Deepti's experience, India delivered a complete team performance when it mattered most.
