IPL 2026: Shubman Gill and Rashid Khan Power Gujarat Titans to Record 77-Run Victory Over Rajasthan Royals

The Gujarat Titans (GT) delivered a masterclass in clinical T20 cricket, dismantling the Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 77 runs at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Saturday, May 9, 2026. The victory not only marked GT’s biggest-ever win by runs in IPL history but also propelled them to the second spot on the points table.

After being put into bat, the Gujarat Titans’ openers silenced the Jaipur crowd with a blistering 118-run partnership. Captain Shubman Gill was in sublime touch, smashing 84 off just 44 balls, including 9 boundaries and 3 towering sixes.

Sai Sudharsan played the perfect foil, reaching a fluent 55 off 36 balls. While RR’s Jofra Archer struggled with rhythm (conceding 46 in 3 overs), GT took full advantage. A late-innings cameo from Washington Sundar (37 off 20)* and a quick-fire surge from Rahul Tewatia ensured the Titans finished with a massive 229/4.

The Collapse: Rashid Khan Dismantles RR
The Rajasthan Royals began the chase with high intent. 15-year-old sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi gave the home fans hope with a fearless 36 off 16 balls, taking the attack to Mohammed Siraj early on. However, once the Powerplay ended, the “Rashid Khan storm” arrived.

The Afghan leg-spinner, Rashid Khan, produced a vintage spell of 4/33, cleaning up the RR middle order with surgical precision.

Dhruv Jurel (24 off 10) threatened a comeback but was outfoxed by Rashid.

Jason Holder cleaned up the tail with clinical figures of 3/12.

RR’s stand-in captain, Yashasvi Jaiswal, fell early to a fiery Kagiso Rabada bouncer.

Rajasthan eventually folded for 152 in 16.3 overs, losing their fifth game in their last seven outings and slipping out of the top four.
