Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has issued a strong warning regarding control over the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, while sharply criticizing statements made by the President of the United States.

In a post on social media, Ghalibaf accused the US President of making “seven false claims in one hour,” asserting that such narratives neither secured victory in conflict nor would yield results in future negotiations.
He further emphasized that Iran’s stance on the Strait remains firm, stating that continued blockades could directly impact its openness. According to him, maritime passage through the Strait would be subject to “designated routes” and require explicit Iranian authorization.
“The status of the Strait—whether open or closed—and the rules governing it will be determined on the ground, not on social media,” Ghalibaf stated, underlining Iran’s intent to assert operational control over one of the world’s most critical energy corridors.
The Strait of Hormuz is a crucial passage for global oil shipments, making any potential restrictions a matter of significant international concern. Ghalibaf’s remarks come amid heightened geopolitical tensions, raising fresh questions about maritime security and global energy stability.
