India’s Squash Future Bright, Says Jaishankar

External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar highlighted the immense talent and potential of India’s youth, calling for greater encouragement and nurturing of young sporting talent.

In a social media post, Jaishankar shared details of his interaction with 60 budding squash players at PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya, Andrews Ganj.

Jaishankar noted that squash will become an Olympic sport from the 2028 Los Angeles Games, describing the growing opportunities for young Indian players on the global stage. He also pointed to the success of young squash player Anahat Singh as an inspiration for the next generation.

The External Affairs Minister said it was personally satisfying to support the squash talent development project in partnership with Bharti Enterprises Limited.

“India’s youth has tremendous talent and potential. It is imperative that we encourage and nurture it, particularly in sports,” Jaishankar said.

His interaction with the young players underlined the importance of grassroots development in building India’s future sporting strength.

With squash set to make its Olympic debut in 2028, initiatives focused on identifying and developing young talent could provide a stronger pathway for Indian athletes to compete at the highest international level.

Jaishankar expressed confidence that India’s young boys and girls would continue to excel and make the country proud.
