Kiren Rijiju Felicitates CWG Judo Gold Medalist Asmita Dey

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju congratulated Asmita Dey, the first Indian judoka to win a Commonwealth Games gold medal, on her historic triumph at the Commonwealth Games 2026.

Sharing his appreciation on social media, Rijiju said he was "super proud" to receive the champion, who hails from a humble family in Tripura and is currently serving in the Uttar Pradesh Government.

The minister praised Asmita's exceptional achievement, calling it the result of years of dedication, perseverance and hard work. He said her historic success would inspire countless young judokas and aspiring athletes across India to pursue excellence in the sport.

Rijiju also congratulated coach Yashpal Solanki, acknowledging his invaluable guidance and contribution to Asmita Dey's remarkable journey to becoming India's first Commonwealth Games judo gold medallist.
