In a clinical display of spin bowling and composed batting, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ended Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) five-match winning streak with a comprehensive 7-wicket victory at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Sunday, May 3, 2026.

After suffering a heavy 65-run defeat to SRH earlier in the season at Eden Gardens, KKR exacted perfect revenge by dismantling the hosts’ powerful batting lineup and chasing down a target of 166 with 10 balls to spare.
SRH Innings: A Tale of Two Halves
Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and elected to bat, looking to continue their high-scoring momentum. The start was explosive, led by Travis Head, who blazed his way to 61 off just 28 balls, including 9 fours and 3 sixes. Alongside Ishan Kishan (42), Head propelled SRH to a dominant 105/1 within the first 9 overs.
However, the introduction of KKR’s spin twins triggered a catastrophic collapse. From a position of absolute strength, SRH lost their remaining 9 wickets for just 60 runs.
The Collapse: SRH slipped from 105/1 to 165 all out in 19 overs.
Key Wicket: The momentum shifted entirely when Varun Chakaravarthy removed Travis Head.
Milestone Alert: During his spell, Sunil Narine reached the historic landmark of 200 IPL wickets, further cementing his legacy as a league legend.
The Spin Masterclass
Varun Chakaravarthy was the architect of KKR’s comeback, finishing with figures of 3/36 and earning the Player of the Match award. His ability to stifle the middle order prevented SRH from reaching a projected 200+ total. Narine provided excellent support with 2/31, while Kartik Tyagi chipped in with two late wickets to polish off the tail.
Placement and pure timing! 🤌
🎥 Captain Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi combining brilliantly for #KKR 🤝

KKR’s Steady Chase: Raghuvanshi Comes of Age
Chasing 166, KKR got off to a flyer thanks to Finn Allen, who smashed 29 off 13 balls. Following his departure, the duo of Angkrish Raghuvanshi and captain Ajinkya Rahane took control.
Raghuvanshi played the innings of his life, anchoring the chase with a career-best 59 off 47 balls. His calculated aggression allowed Rahane (43) to play the anchor role. The pair added 84 runs for the second wicket, effectively shutting SRH out of the contest.
Rinku Singh (22* off 11) provided the finishing touches, sealing the win with a boundary in the 19th over.
Match Summary
SRH: 165 all out (19 overs) | Travis Head 61, Varun Chakaravarthy 3/36
KKR: 169/3 (18.2 overs) | Angkrish Raghuvanshi 59, Ajinkya Rahane 43
Result: KKR won by 7 wickets.
Player of the Match: Varun Chakaravarthy.
