Kunal Ghosh Hits Out at TMC Rebels, Reaffirms Support for Mamata Banerjee

Trinamool Congress leader Kunal Ghosh launched a sharp attack on dissident leaders claiming to represent the party, accusing them of illegally using the Trinamool Congress name and attempting to undermine the leadership of Mamata Banerjee.

Speaking to the media, Ghosh said the rebel group had no authority to conduct activities in the party's name and described their actions as part of a larger conspiracy aimed at weakening the organisation. He asserted that Trinamool Congress and Mamata Banerjee are inseparable, stressing that the party's identity is rooted in her leadership.

Ghosh accused the dissidents of using pressure tactics to force elected representatives and party workers into their camp. He reminded rebel leaders that they had been elected as MLAs, MPs and councillors under Mamata Banerjee's leadership and party symbol, challenging them to openly resign from the party if they wished to leave.

Calling the rebellion an act of betrayal, Ghosh said the people of West Bengal would not support those attempting to seize control of the party. He maintained that despite being in the opposition, the Trinamool Congress remains united behind Mamata Banerjee and enjoys the backing of its workers and supporters across the state.

Warning of political consequences, Ghosh said the party would ensure that those he described as "traitors" face defeat in future elections. His remarks come amid an escalating internal power struggle within the Trinamool Congress following its defeat in the 2026 West Bengal Assembly election
