PM Luxon Hails India's Transformation Under PM Modi

New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon lauded India's remarkable economic transformation under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing the India-New Zealand Business Event in Auckland.

Expressing his long-standing admiration for India, Luxon reflected on his first visit to the country in his mid-20s and spoke about the profound changes he has witnessed over the years.

"I have been a great fan of India for a long period of time. I first went to India in my mid-20s... Under PM Modi's leadership, he has lifted 250 million people out of poverty. As someone who has been to India many times, to see the move from low income to middle income to high income—it is so inspiring and so exciting to see the transformation that has taken place," Luxon said.

The New Zealand Prime Minister highlighted India's rapid economic progress and described the country's development journey as an inspiration. His remarks underscored the growing global recognition of India's economic achievements and the strengthening partnership between India and New Zealand.

The India-New Zealand Business Event brought together government representatives, business leaders, and industry stakeholders to explore new opportunities for collaboration in trade, investment, technology, innovation, and people-to-people ties.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to New Zealand is expected to further deepen bilateral cooperation, with both nations seeking to expand strategic and economic engagement across multiple sectors.
