The MoU focuses on developing a Green Iron and Green Steel Technology Pilot/Demonstration Project in Gadchiroli, Maharashtra, with the objective of evaluating advanced low-carbon technologies for iron and steel production.
The initiative aims to support Maharashtra’s green industrial development by assessing the suitability of advanced low-carbon and green steel technologies. It also seeks to facilitate the development of Gadchiroli as a future green steel manufacturing hub through technology evaluation, ecosystem development and collaboration with relevant institutions and stakeholders.
The agreement is expected to promote sustainable industrial growth, innovation, technology transfer and decarbonisation initiatives across the state. It will also encourage knowledge-sharing and partnerships to strengthen Maharashtra’s position as a potential global green steel manufacturing hub, while facilitating opportunities for steel exports.
