In a significant development during the West Bengal Legislative Elections 2026, the Election Commission of India has suspended five police officers over allegations of serious misconduct and failure to maintain neutrality.

The action comes amid concerns over the integrity of the electoral process in certain regions. Disciplinary proceedings have also been initiated against the officers.

Sajal Mondal, SDPO, Diamond Harbour
Mausam Chakraborty, Inspector in Charge, Diamond Harbour Police Station
Ajay Bag, Inspector in Charge, Falta Police Station
Subhechha Bag, Officer in Charge, Usthi Police Station
The Election Commission has reiterated its commitment to ensuring free, fair, and transparent elections, emphasizing zero tolerance for any deviation from neutrality by officials on duty.
