Mamata Banerjee Calls for Communal Harmony Ahead of Festivals
Former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has called for communal harmony and religious unity ahead of the festive celebrations, urging people to spread light, peace and brotherhood rather than darkness and division.
In her remarks, Banerjee referred to the upcoming celebrations of Maa Kali Puja, Deepavali, Bhai Dooj, Jagaddhatri Puja and Chhath Puja, highlighting the cultural and religious diversity of the country.
Taking an oath in the name of Maa, she emphasised that people belonging to all religious communities — Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Buddhist and Jain — should live together in harmony.
Banerjee also invoked the contributions and ideals of several prominent spiritual leaders, social reformers and national icons, including Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Swami Vivekananda, Rabindranath Tagore, Kazi Nazrul Islam, Dr B. R. Ambedkar, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri.
She said these great personalities should serve as guiding inspirations for society and help shape people's lives.
Her message centred on religious coexistence, mutual respect and the importance of preserving India's pluralistic traditions during the festive season.
