IAS officer Manoj Kumar Agarwal has been granted a six-month extension as the Chief Secretary of West Bengal, allowing him to continue in the state's top bureaucratic post until January next year.

His tenure was originally scheduled to conclude at the end of this month. The extension was approved after the West Bengal government formally requested the Union Government to retain him in office for an additional six months.

Following the Centre's approval, the state secretariat, Nabanna, issued an official notification confirming the extension of Agarwal's tenure.

The decision ensures continuity in the state's administrative leadership, with Manoj Kumar Agarwal continuing to oversee key government functions and policy implementation as West Bengal's Chief Secretary.
