Modi Calls India Top Destination for Japanese Businesses
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday announced a new chapter in India-Japan relations at the India-Japan Joint Economic Forum, stating that he and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi have agreed to deepen the bilateral partnership across strategic and emerging sectors.

Addressing business leaders, PM Modi said both nations have signed agreements in economic security, artificial intelligence (AI), defence and healthcare, describing the partnership as "futuristic and limitless."

The Prime Minister highlighted the strong strategic alignment between the two governments, built on trust, confidence and policy clarity. He urged industry leaders to convert the shared vision into tangible outcomes through greater investment and collaboration.

Modi also showcased India's recent reforms in taxation, governance and ease of doing business, noting that several sectors have been opened to private investment with attractive incentives for global companies.
Referring to the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) survey, he said India has been ranked the "Most Promising Destination" for Japanese businesses for four consecutive years.

Outlining his vision for the future, PM Modi said Japan's technological excellence combined with India's vast market and manufacturing capabilities could strengthen resilient global supply chains in semiconductors, pharmaceuticals and critical minerals. He also called for greater collaboration in shipbuilding, advanced mobility and clean energy.

In a lighter moment, Modi mentioned PM Takaichi's fondness for motorcycles, noting that globally renowned Japanese brands such as Kawasaki, Yamaha and Honda already manufacture and export motorcycles from India. He added that deeper cooperation in sectors like air conditioners, power grid equipment, precision manufacturing and medical technology would benefit not only the two countries but also the global economy.
