By the end of Cape Verde's fairytale campaign, which concluded with a thrilling 3-2 extra-time defeat to defending champions Argentina national football team, his social media audience had exploded to 20 million, making him the most-followed goalkeeper on Instagram.

Vozinha captured the imagination of football fans worldwide with a series of heroic performances. He made seven saves to secure a goalless draw against Spain in Cape Verde's opening match before playing a pivotal role in guiding the Blue Sharks to the Round of 32 in their first-ever World Cup appearance.
