PM Modi Hails Diaspora, Cultural Diplomacy

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed gratitude for the warm reception he received from the Indian community in Jakarta during his official visit to Indonesia, describing their affection and commitment to India's progress as truly inspiring.

Sharing his thoughts on social media, Modi said the Indian diaspora continues to strengthen India's ties with the world through its achievements across diverse fields, highlighting their important role in enhancing India's global presence.

The Prime Minister also praised Indonesia's rich cultural heritage after witnessing a captivating Wayang Kulit performance, the country's renowned shadow puppetry tradition. The performance beautifully brought the timeless story of the Ramayan to life, reflecting the centuries-old civilisational links between India and Indonesia.

Modi said the performance was a moving reminder of how shared cultural traditions have travelled across seas and generations, evolving into unique local expressions while preserving their enduring values. He congratulated the performing troupe, known as Ganesh, for their remarkable presentation.

Later, the Prime Minister attended a graceful Bharatanatyam performance by the Samanvaya Group in Jakarta. He appreciated the group's dedication to preserving and showcasing India's classical dance tradition, calling it heartening to see these cherished cultural practices being celebrated abroad.

The cultural events underscored the deep historical and civilisational bonds between India and Indonesia, complementing the Prime Minister's ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral ties during his visit.
