Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday addressed a major political rally in West Bengal, outlining the Bharatiya Janata Party’s vision for the state and launching a sharp attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress government.
Positioning the BJP as the vehicle for transformation, Modi said the party is committed to taking Bengal “to new heights of development,” backed by a detailed manifesto released by the state unit a day earlier. He described the document as a comprehensive roadmap to implement the “six guarantees” promised to the people of Bengal.
“Modi’s guarantee is to transform fear into trust,” he said, adding that the blueprint for this transition is clearly laid out in the BJP’s manifesto.
Focus on Corruption and Governance
In a direct attack on the government led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Modi alleged widespread corruption involving political leaders and syndicates. He announced that a BJP government would introduce a white paper to present a legal and detailed account of alleged irregularities over the past 15 years.
“There will be strict action against every form of corruption,” he asserted, promising accountability and systemic reform.
Big Promises for Farmers and Welfare
Highlighting welfare measures, the Prime Minister said farmers in Bengal would benefit from a “double engine government,” receiving enhanced financial support under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.
Under the proposed plan, farmers would receive ₹9,000 annually — ₹6,000 from the Centre and an additional ₹3,000 from a BJP-led state government.
Modi also made a significant outreach to women voters, promising ₹3,000 per month as direct financial assistance to women across the state.
Jobs, Salaries and Healthcare
Addressing unemployment concerns, Modi said the BJP would provide relief to candidates who lost opportunities due to age limits, promising relaxation for those affected during the current government’s tenure. He added that vacant government posts would be filled on priority.
He further announced that state government employees would receive the benefits of the 7th Pay Commission under a BJP regime.
On healthcare, Modi pledged that the Ayushman Bharat Yojana would be implemented in the very first cabinet meeting after a BJP government takes office, ensuring free medical treatment for lakhs of families.
“This is Modi’s guarantee,” he emphasized.
CAA and Immigration Issues
The Prime Minister also addressed the issue of citizenship and illegal immigration, stating that the process of granting citizenship under the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) would be expedited for all eligible applicants.
At the same time, he issued a stern warning against illegal infiltration, stating that those residing in the country unlawfully would be identified and expelled. He added that individuals involved in facilitating illegal entry or creating fake documents would also face strict action.
Political Battle Intensifies
With elections approaching, Modi accused the Trinamool Congress of spreading misinformation out of fear of losing ground, asserting that the BJP would “shut down the shop of corruption” in the state.
The rally underscores the intensifying political contest in West Bengal, with both BJP and TMC sharpening their narratives ahead of crucial polling phases.
