Relief for Norway after Sweden’s last-gasp push for an equaliser ends with the final whistle! A tightly-fought game against a boisterous atmosphere results in victory for the hosts courtesy of Haaland’s brace and Sørloth’s header. Sweden gave their opponents a few scares, replying through Forsberg’s superb strike and pushing for a third after Gyokeres pounced. Norway, though, remain unbeaten and top of the section.
Haaland (2) and Sorloth inspire League B, Group 4 leaders Norway to victory in Oslo.
This was a well-deserved win for Norway in the end. They were the better team in the first half, taking the lead through Haaland, and the second half was a fairly tight affair in which neither team created too much. But when Haaland made it 2-0 from the penalty spot, Sweden had to try to change the match dynamic. Forsberg pulled one back with a great finish in the 62nd minute, but the visitors couldn’t build any more momentum. Instead, it was a determined Haaland who found Sørloth with a chipped cross in the 77nd minutes, and the Real Sociedad striker converted. Gyokeres’s late goal was not quite enough to complete a dramatic late comeback.
Sweden captain Emil Forsberg said ,”It is too easy to score against us and we must correct that. The goals came at bad moments, going 2-1 down and then 3-1 shortly afterwards. That gave us an uphill task. These are small details. If you do not get them right, you will be punished. Right now, there are too many little things we need to fix.”
Norway striker Erling Haaland, said ,”I’m speechless! It’s the first time I’ve played for a sold-out Ullevaal. And to win against Sweden in the last match of the season — it’s beautiful.”
