Galarza Goal Ends Turkey's World Cup Dream

A 64th-second screamer from Matias Galarza helped Paraguay beat Turkey 1-0 and eliminate them from the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Santa Clara.

Galarza scored with a stunning 25-yard shot into the top corner for the quickest goal of the tournament.

But Paraguay were reduced to 10 men before half time as Miguel Almiron became the first player dismissed under a new FIFA rule banning players from covering their mouth during confrontations.

Turkey dominated 78% of bqll possession in the second half but failed to score, extending their scoreless run in the tournament to 180 minutes.

Turkey's back-to-back losses to Australia and Paraguay mean they cannot finish higher than fourth. The United States has officially won Group D.
