Piyush Goyal Says India–New Zealand FTA Will Open New Doors for Workers, Farmers and Businesses
Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has highlighted the growing economic partnership between India and New Zealand as the India–New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (FTA) officially comes into force.
Speaking at the ceremony marking the agreement’s entry into force, Goyal recalled his first meeting with New Zealand counterpart Todd in Mumbai in August 2024, where both sides shared a vision of building a stronger, deeper and more ambitious economic partnership.
The minister said the agreement is now translating that shared vision into tangible opportunities for workers, farmers, businesses and people in both countries.
He emphasised that the FTA would open doors for new ideas, products and services while creating fresh avenues to expand bilateral trade and strengthen economic engagement.
Goyal expressed optimism that the agreement would take India–New Zealand trade relations to greater heights, supporting business collaboration and unlocking new opportunities for both economies.
