Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Olympic silver medallist Saikhom Mirabai Chanu after her spectacular gold-medal-winning performance in the women's 48kg weightlifting event at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Sharing his message on social media, the Prime Minister hailed Mirabai's achievement as another glorious chapter in Indian weightlifting and praised her consistency and dedication on the international stage.

"Another glorious chapter in Indian Weightlifting! The talented Mirabai Chanu once again showcased her skills at the Commonwealth Games with a stunning performance in the 48 kg category and winning Gold. With back-to-back Commonwealth Games Golds and an overall fourth CWG medal to her name, she remains an inspiration for every Indian. Congratulations to her! Best wishes for the endeavours ahead. #CWG2026," Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted.

Mirabai produced a record-breaking performance in Glasgow, winning the gold medal with a Commonwealth Games record total of 190kg, including an 85kg Snatch (Commonwealth and Games Record) and a 105kg Clean & Jerk (Games Record).

The triumph adds another milestone to her illustrious career, making her one of India's most decorated Commonwealth Games athletes.
