PM Modi Tells Gen Z: Questioning Is Good, But Every Generation Has a Duty to the Nation

PM Modi’s Gen Z message at the IIT Delhi convocation focused on the importance of questioning, finding solutions independently and fulfilling one’s responsibility towards the nation. The Prime Minister was addressing more than 3,000 graduates and around 587 PhD scholars at the convocation ceremony. His remarks came after recent protests at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, making the event his first public address following the demonstrations.

Addressing the young audience, PM Modi said that questioning is an important part of learning and progress. However, he stressed that the right to question should go hand in hand with a sense of responsibility towards the country.

According to the Prime Minister, life outside an educational institution presents a different kind of examination, where there is no fixed question paper and individuals have to find their own questions as well as their answers.

PM Modi told the graduating students that real-life challenges often fall outside a predefined syllabus. He encouraged them to keep learning, adapt to new circumstances and develop the ability to solve problems independently.

The Prime Minister emphasised that young people should not be afraid of questioning, but should also take responsibility for finding constructive answers.

His message to the students was that those who continue to learn and adapt will be better prepared to succeed in the challenges of life.

During the IIT Delhi convocation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also inaugurated ‘Param Pragya’, an artificial intelligence-enabled, high-performance supercomputing system.

The advanced computing system is currently housed at IIT Delhi's Sonipat campus and is expected to strengthen the institute's research capabilities.

The supercomputer will support researchers, faculty members and students in addressing complex scientific and engineering problems.

Boost to IIT Delhi’s Research Infrastructure

The introduction of Param Pragya is expected to provide IIT Delhi with enhanced high-performance computing capabilities.

Such systems can support advanced research and computational work across multiple scientific and engineering disciplines.

The new infrastructure is also expected to strengthen the institute's ability to undertake technology-driven research and innovation.

IIT Delhi Convocation Celebrates Academic Excellence

PM Modi attended the convocation as the chief guest, where thousands of students received their degrees and certificates.

More than 3,000 undergraduate students and approximately 587 PhD scholars were among those participating in the ceremony.

The Prime Minister also presented several prestigious awards to students who demonstrated outstanding academic performance.

These included the President's Gold Medal, Director's Gold Medal, Shankar Dayal Sharma Gold Medal and Perfect Ten Gold Medal.

The awards are among IIT Delhi's major recognitions for academic achievement.
