PM Modi Highlights India's 7.7% Growth, Reforms in Monsoon Session

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said India's strong economic performance and reform-driven development have enabled the country to emerge as the world's fastest-growing major economy, despite global uncertainties and geopolitical conflicts.

Addressing the opening of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, the Prime Minister noted that ongoing conflicts in West Asia created significant challenges for energy-importing nations, including India, affecting the supply of petrol, diesel, LPG, fertilisers and chemicals. However, he said India successfully maintained a 7.7% economic growth rate, demonstrating the country's resilience and economic strength.

"We are well aware, and the entire world is concerned about the persistent threat of war in various regions. Despite these challenges, India maintained a growth rate of 7.7 per cent, emerging as the fastest-growing major economy in the world," Modi said.

He added that the country's progress reflects its growing confidence and ambition, stating that Parliament's Monsoon Session begins at a time when India has gathered significant momentum and is moving forward with renewed energy.

Highlighting the government's reform agenda, Modi said India's youth are benefiting from what he described as the "Reform Express," enabling them to innovate, take risks and achieve success.

The Prime Minister also highlighted several major infrastructure and technology milestones achieved in recent weeks, including the dedication of a massive oil refinery in Rajasthan, the country's third semiconductor manufacturing plant and a green hydrogen-powered train.

He noted that while only a handful of countries have introduced hydrogen-powered trains, India's version features the world's longest train with one of the most powerful hydrogen-powered engines, calling it a testament to the dedication of the nation's scientists, engineers, innovators, entrepreneurs and workers.

Modi said these achievements underscore India's commitment to technological advancement, self-reliance and sustainable development as the country continues its journey toward becoming a developed nation.
