Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday extended greetings on National Handloom Day, celebrating India's rich handloom heritage and paying tribute to the country's weavers and artisans for preserving traditional craftsmanship across generations.

In a post on social media, the Prime Minister said India's handloom tradition reflects the nation's cultural diversity, creativity, and craftsmanship. He praised the dedication of weavers and artisans, whose work continues to enrich India's cultural legacy.

PM Modi reiterated that the government remains committed to supporting the handloom sector, describing it as a key pillar of rural empowerment, women-led development, and the vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Encouraging greater public participation, the Prime Minister urged citizens to share their favourite handloom products and "Get Ready With Me" (GRWM) videos using the hashtag #NationalHandloomDay. He said such participation would help promote India's handloom industry and encourage the artisans and weavers associated with the sector.

National Handloom Day is observed every year on August 7 to honour India's centuries-old weaving traditions and recognize the invaluable contribution of handloom weavers to the country's economy, culture, and heritage.
