PM Narendra Modi SCO Summit: India Calls for Unified Stand Against Terrorism

PM Narendra Modi SCO Summit participation in Bishkek saw the Indian Prime Minister deliver a strong message on terrorism, calling on member countries to adopt a united approach against the threat and reject any form of double standards.

Addressing the 26th Shanghai Cooperation

Organisation (SCO) Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed that terrorism must not be treated as an instrument of state policy or allowed to become a strategic tool for any country.

The remarks came in the presence of Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other leaders of the SCO member states, adding significance to India's message on combating terrorism and cross-border terror networks.

During the roundtable discussion at the PM Narendra Modi SCO Summit in Bishkek, PM Modi said that countries must speak with one voice on the issue of terrorism.

He emphasised that there should be no room for double standards when dealing with terrorism, particularly when terrorist groups receive support, shelter or other forms of assistance.

According to PM Modi, countries that use terrorism as an instrument of policy or provide support to terrorists must receive a clear and firm message from the international community.

He asserted that terrorism cannot become a strategic asset for anyone, underlining India's longstanding position that terrorism poses a serious threat to regional peace, security and development.

Call to Dismantle the Terror Ecosystem

The Prime Minister's remarks went beyond targeting individual terrorist organisations. He called for the dismantling of the wider ecosystem that enables terrorism to survive and operate.

This includes addressing the networks and structures that provide terrorists with support and shelter. India has repeatedly highlighted the need for stronger international cooperation to prevent terrorist groups from exploiting differences between countries.
