Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Sweden has marked a significant turning point in India–Sweden relations, as both countries officially elevated their bilateral ties to a Strategic Partnership, opening a new chapter of deeper economic, technological and security cooperation.
Prime Minister Modi, along with the Prime Minister of Sweden Ulf Kristersson, interacted with select Swedish CEOs and underlined the importance of deepening trade, technology and investment engagement between India and Sweden. The meeting was attended by top Swedish companies including Volvo, AstraZeneca, Saab and Ericsson, reflecting strong industry participation and growing economic interest.

The landmark development reflects a shared vision between India and Sweden to strengthen collaboration in future-driven sectors and expand long-term strategic engagement.

Among the major announcements, both nations outlined ambitious plans to double bilateral trade and investment within the next five years, highlighting growing economic confidence and expanding opportunities for businesses and industries in both countries.

The partnership will also focus on strengthening cooperation in emerging and high-technology sectors including Artificial Intelligence (AI), semiconductors, quantum computing, green transition initiatives, advanced innovation ecosystems, and space technology.

Security cooperation emerged as another key pillar of the agreement, with India and Sweden committing to stronger collaboration on counterterrorism efforts, regional stability, and global security challenges.
