Wolves was swift to bounce back from defeat three days earlier as they scored two quickfire goals on the road at Tottenham Hotspur to secure their fifth victory in four in the Premier League.
Jimenez put Wolves ahead on six minutes with a superb volley after Hugo Lloris had denied attempts from Dendoncker and Ruben Neves. It was Jimenez’s fourth goal in six matches against Spurs.
Wolves’ Raul Jimenez has scored in all three of his away matches against Spurs.
Dendoncker doubled the visitors’ lead on 18 minutes when he turned in following Daniel Podence’s shot which came back off the post.
Lloris denied Jimenez from adding a third before half-time.
Tottenham Hotspur improved in the second half but they could not prevent a third consecutive defeat for the first time under Antonio Conte.
Kane was denied twice by goalkeeper Jose Sa before Harry Winks’s deflected shot struck the outside of the post. Sa also kept out Cristian Romero’s late header.
Wolves move up to seventh place on 37 points, four points off fourth place with two matches in hand. Spurs are one point worse off in eighth.
The most important thing is the way we play. Now I can say that is why I was very upset after the game against Norwich and the game against Arsenal, because we didn’t play the way we knew we wanted to play.
“But that is why the mentality was like it was today. We came here with the motivation to play our game. It was hard days, especially after Arsenal, and it worked. It was a victory, but more important than that was the way we played.
“I don’t care where we are playing, we respect the opponents but you need to come with big confidence and we did. We played very well in the first-half, and the first 45 minutes was very good on our part.
Wolves coach Bruno Lage said ,“Second-half was a bit different as they changed the system and put more offensive players to try to score. We hold on and create chances. Maybe they deserved a goal, but there were still chances for us. In the end, the most important thing is the way we play as that is what creates the chances, the goals and the points. Now we’re seventh, but it’s important for us to be solid in the performance.”
After match Tottenham coach Antonio Conte said ,”It was a difficult day, because we conceded two goals after only maybe 15 minutes. The performance was good, maybe one of the best since I was here, but at the end, we’re talking about a bad result, 2-0 down. We created many chances to score. It’s very difficult to comment on this game. We played against a team that is very good defensively – they’ve only conceded 17 goals, the second best in the Premier League after Manchester City. I think we created many chances to score, despite the solidity of this team.”
