PT Usha Praises India’s Asian Games Performance
Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President PT Usha has praised India’s performance at the Asian Games, highlighting the contingent’s fourth-place finish despite having fewer athletes than at the previous edition.
Speaking about India’s campaign, PT Usha said the country finished fourth among 46 participating nations while competing in only 36 sports. She noted that around 500 Indian athletes participated in the Games, compared with approximately 700 athletes at the previous Asian Games.
Her remarks underline the importance of evaluating India’s sporting performance in the context of contingent size and the number of disciplines entered. Despite sending fewer athletes, India secured a strong overall position, reflecting the contribution of its competitors across multiple sports.
The IOA President’s assessment also highlights the potential for further improvement through broader participation, systematic talent development and continued investment in Indian sport.
