Rajnath Singh Highlights India’s 7.2% Growth and Financial Stability
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has highlighted India’s economic growth and financial stability, stating that the country’s economy continues to expand at a rate of 7.2 per cent despite economic slowdowns in several major economies.

Speaking on India’s economic trajectory, Singh said that the country had overcome earlier pessimism about its growth prospects through the determination and collective efforts of its people. He noted that India’s progress reflects its ability to navigate challenging global economic conditions and pursue development.
The Defence Minister also highlighted improvements in India’s external economic position. According to his remarks, the country’s current account deficit, which stood at over 4 per cent around 12–13 years ago, has declined to 0.61 per cent. He further stated that India’s foreign exchange reserves have crossed the $700 billion mark.
Singh said that India’s banking system is currently in its strongest-ever position and pointed to upgrades in the country’s sovereign ratings as an indication of growing economic confidence.
Emphasising the role of reforms, he said that India’s economic transformation has been supported by structural changes and continued policy initiatives. He added that the country’s confidence is at an unprecedented level as it continues to advance on its development path.
The remarks underline the government’s emphasis on economic growth, financial resilience, structural reforms and India’s position in the global economy.
