Ramdas Athawale Criticises INDIA Alliance March and Protests
Delhi: Union Minister Ramdas Athawale criticised the INDIA alliance over its planned march and repeated protests, arguing that political parties should focus on the country's development rather than organising frequent demonstrations.
Ramdas Athawale on INDIA Alliance March
Commenting on the INDIA alliance's march, Athawale said the opposition bloc still had more marches to organise. He alleged that its members were not accustomed to working for the country, while claiming that the government's work towards national development was continuing.
Athawale acknowledged that peaceful rallies were permitted in a democracy but said holding demonstrations repeatedly was not the right approach.
#WATCH | Delhi: On the INDIA alliance march, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale says, "The fact is, the INDIA alliance still has the task of organising marches ahead of them. They aren't in the habit of working for the country, whereas our work for the nation's development is ongoing. In a democracy, they are free to hold peaceful rallies, but constantly holding rallies isn't right..." On the CJP protests, he adds, "...I would urge that constantly staging protests is not the right approach. You staged protests one day, then the next—but no matter how much you protest, Gyanesh Kumar will not resign..."

Athawale Comments on CJP Protests
Athawale also addressed the protests associated with CJP. He urged those involved to reconsider repeatedly staging demonstrations, saying that protests held on consecutive days would not result in Gyanesh Kumar resigning.
His remarks reflected his opposition to the continued demonstrations and his view that they would not achieve the stated demand.
Political Debate Over Protests
Athawale's comments add to the political exchange between the government and opposition over marches, protests and demands directed at public officials.
