Sports Intelligence: A Decade-Long Dream to Transform India’s Sporting Future
Football Philosopher Kaushik Moulik has taken a significant step towards advancing scientific talent identification in Indian football by handing over Bosch's Sports Intelligence talent identification reports to Mulrajsinh Chudasama, Secretary of the Gujarat State Football Association (GSFA).
The initiative represents the culmination of nearly a decade of work towards developing a technology-driven ecosystem capable of identifying promising sporting talent across India, irrespective of geographical location, financial circumstances or access to professional opportunities.
Sports Intelligence brings together human expertise, technology, real-time match data, behavioural analysis and scientific assessment to develop a more comprehensive approach to understanding player potential.
Building a Scientific Pathway for Sporting Excellence
For Moulik, the initiative is driven by the belief that extraordinary sporting talent exists in India's villages, small towns and underserved communities but often remains undiscovered because of limited exposure and inadequate access to structured development opportunities.
His vision is to establish a nationwide, scientifically structured and technology-enabled talent identification system that can help young sporting aspirants receive appropriate assessment, guidance and opportunities to progress.
The initiative draws inspiration from Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji’s Olympic Vision 2036. Moulik believes that realising this ambitious vision requires India to build a robust, scientific and technology-driven sporting ecosystem that combines talent identification, sports science, neuroscience, artificial intelligence and advanced assessment technologies to discover and nurture the country’s next generation of sporting champions.
Gujarat Super League Provides a Platform for Sports Intelligence
The Gujarat State Football Association and Gujarat Super League have provided an important platform for introducing Sports Intelligence into football talent identification.
The initiative focuses on identifying outstanding Under-20 footballers by analysing live-match performance, real-time data and behavioural patterns alongside expert human observation.
By combining technological insights with football expertise, the approach seeks to develop a deeper understanding of players' abilities, performances and potential, helping create a more evidence-based foundation for talent assessment.
Moulik expressed his gratitude to GSFA President Shri Parimal Nathwani, Secretary Shri Mulrajsinh Chudasama and the entire association for their trust and support. He also acknowledged the Gujarat Super League team owners for providing an opportunity to put the concept into practice.
Collaboration at the Heart of Innovation
Moulik credited Bosch and the Evoco platform for supporting the initiative, while expressing gratitude to Professor Jan Meyer, Dr. Bimal Roy and the wider team of experts who contributed their knowledge and expertise.
He also expressed his sincere gratitude to Vikresh Gyanani and the entire Bosch team, including Deepak Nadig, for believing in the vision and ambition of the project. He further acknowledged Abhishek Dubbey of DD Sports for his valuable support and encouragement in advancing this innovative approach to sporting development.
The collaboration reflects the potential of bringing together technology partners, sports professionals, scientific experts and sporting institutions to develop innovative approaches to talent identification.
From Football to a Nationwide Sporting Ecosystem
Although football is the starting point, Moulik's larger ambition extends across sports. He envisions an ecosystem that can help identify, assess, nurture and develop talented young athletes from every corner of India.
The proposed approach aims to ensure that sporting opportunities are not restricted to children who live in metropolitan cities or have access to expensive training facilities. Instead, talent identification should become more accessible, systematic and informed by scientific evidence.
Moulik believes that combining human intelligence with artificial intelligence, sports science, neuroscience and advanced technologies can help India strengthen its grassroots sporting foundations and develop a sustainable pipeline of future champions.
A Beginning, Not the Finish Line
For Moulik, the handover of the Sports Intelligence reports marks an important milestone rather than the conclusion of a decade-long pursuit.
His ultimate objective is to help India emerge as a true sporting nation, recognised not only for its passion for sport but also for its ability to discover and develop sporting excellence.
The initiative reflects a broader ambition: to ensure that no promising young athlete remains undiscovered simply because the right people, systems or technologies have not reached them.
As India looks towards its future sporting ambitions, Sports Intelligence seeks to contribute to a more scientific, inclusive and technology-driven approach to talent identification.
From hidden talent to global excellence, Sports Intelligence marks the beginning of a journey to help India's next generation of sporting champions realise their potential.
