Suvendu Adhikari Road Safety Week: Chingrighata Awareness Drive
KT- Suvendu Adhikary

Suvendu Adhikari Road Safety Week activities received a major boost as West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari participated in a road safety awareness programme at Chingrighata Crossing.

The programme was organised by the Transport Department of the Government of West Bengal in collaboration with the Traffic Units of Kolkata Police and West Bengal Police. The initiative focused on promoting responsible road behaviour and encouraging young citizens to become ambassadors of road safety.

Chief Minister Interacts With School Students

During the Suvendu Adhikari Road Safety Week programme, the Chief Minister interacted with school students participating in the awareness initiative.

Adhikari urged the students to understand the importance of following traffic rules and to spread road safety awareness among their families, friends and communities.

The participation of school students was aimed at reinforcing the importance of developing responsible road habits from an early age.

Students as Road Safety Ambassadors

Young people can play an important role in creating greater awareness about road safety. By sharing messages about traffic discipline and responsible behaviour, students can help encourage safer practices among their peers and family members.

The programme therefore placed particular emphasis on involving students in the wider road safety campaign.

Transport Department Leads Awareness Initiative

The Road Safety Week programme was organised by the West Bengal Transport Department with support from the traffic units of both Kolkata Police and West Bengal Police.

The collaboration brings together key departments involved in traffic management, enforcement and public awareness.

Such joint initiatives are designed to strengthen communication with citizens and encourage greater compliance with road safety norms.

Focus on Responsible Road Behaviour

Road safety awareness extends beyond motorists. Pedestrians, cyclists, passengers and other road users also have an important role to play in maintaining safer roads.

The programme highlighted the need for greater awareness and responsible behaviour among all sections of society.

Importance of Traffic Awareness

Regular awareness campaigns can help reinforce basic road safety principles and encourage people to follow traffic regulations consistently.

Schools can also play an important role by educating students about responsible road use and encouraging them to share these messages within their communities.

Road Safety Week Message

The Chingrighata Crossing programme formed part of the broader Road Safety Week initiative in West Bengal. The participation of the Chief Minister provided additional visibility to the campaign and highlighted the government's emphasis on road safety awareness.

The interaction with students was particularly significant as it sought to involve the younger generation in spreading the message beyond the event itself.

Government, Police and Public Participation

Effective road safety requires cooperation between government agencies, police authorities and citizens. While traffic personnel are responsible for enforcement and management, public awareness and voluntary compliance remain equally important.

The joint participation of the Transport Department, Kolkata Police and West Bengal Police reflects an effort to bring these elements together through coordinated awareness programmes.

The Suvendu Adhikari Road Safety Week event at Chingrighata Crossing consequently served as a platform to promote traffic awareness while encouraging students to become active participants in the road safety campaign.
