Tamil Nadu Announces Black Flag Protest Against Delimitation; MK Stalin Warns Centre of “Heavy Price”

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has announced a statewide black flag agitation on April 16 in protest against the proposed delimitation exercise, intensifying the political confrontation with the Centre.

Chairing an emergency virtual meeting with DMK MPs and district secretaries, Stalin warned that Tamil Nadu’s concerns must be addressed, stating that the state would otherwise face “serious consequences” and a “heavy price.”

Describing the situation as deeply alarming, Stalin said, “The sword that hung over our heads has now descended upon us,” underscoring the party’s strong opposition to the exercise.

The DMK leadership has also begun outreach to MPs across states, aiming to build a coordinated national response. According to party sources, a broader strategy is being developed to counter what the DMK calls a “grave danger” to federal balance and representation.
