The KKR Carnage: Finn Allen Sets Eden Gardens Ablaze

In a high-octane, run-fest marking their historic 100th IPL match at the iconic Eden Gardens, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) delivered a sensational performance to defeat the in-form Gujarat Titans (GT) by 29 runs in Match 60 of IPL 2026.

The clinical victory snapped the Titans’ five-game winning streak and temporarily halted their mathematical qualification for the playoffs, while keeping KKR’s own top-four aspirations flickering.

The KKR Carnage: Finn Allen Sets Eden Gardens Ablaze
After GT won the toss and elected to bowl on a humid evening, they were quickly made to regret the decision. KKR opener Finn Allen unleashed absolute mayhem from the get-go, playing a breathtaking knock of 93 off just 35 deliveries at a staggering strike rate of 265.71.

Allen spearheaded the early onslaught by tearing into the GT bowling lineup during the Powerplay, reaching a fiery half-century in just 21 balls. His masterclass in power-hitting included 4 boundaries and 10 towering sixes, throwing the home crowd into absolute ecstasy.

Raghuvanshi and Green Maintain the Momentum

Following Allen’s departure in the 12th over, young sensation Angkrish Raghuvanshi picked up right where the Kiwi left off. Raghuvanshi played a flawless, inventive knock, anchoring the rest of the innings to finish on an unbeaten 82 off 44 balls*, studded with 4 fours and 7 sixes.

Raghuvanshi found an equally aggressive partner in Cameron Green, who smashed a quickfire 52 off 28 balls*. The duo stitched together a destructive 108-run unbeaten partnership for the third wicket, propelling KKR to a mammoth 247/2 in their 20 overs—their highest total of the season.

The Run Chase: Gill and Buttler Fight Back, Sudharsan Resilient

Faced with a mountainous target of 248, Gujarat Titans responded with immense grit. Opening batsman Sai Sudharsan started aggressively but was forced to retire hurt early after taking a painful blow to his elbow.

GT Captain Shubman Gill then took full command, leading from the front with an exquisite 85 off 49 balls (5 fours, 7 sixes). Gill combined brilliantly with Jos Buttler, who accelerated well to rack up a rapid 57 off 35 balls, throwing the game wide open with their aggressive stroke-play.

Sunil Narine and Saurabh Dubey Hold Nerve in Death Overs

With GT looking threatening, KKR’s veteran spinner Sunil Narine turned the tide in his 200th IPL appearance. Narine delivered a magnificent spell under pressure, dismissing the dangerous Shubman Gill for 85, courtesy of a spectacular juggling catch by Anukul Roy near the boundary rope. Narine finished with stellar figures of 2/29 in a match where nearly 500 runs were aggregated.

The ultimate breakthrough in the death overs came from uncapped left-arm pacer Saurabh Dubey. Entrusted with the crucial 19th over when GT needed a miracle, Dubey bowled a phenomenal over, mixing up pinpoint yorkers and deceptive slower balls. He scalped the prized wicket of Jos Buttler and conceded a mere 5 runs, completely shutting down GT’s path to victory.

Sai Sudharsan returned to the crease to bring up a courageous half-century (53 off 28*) with a late six, but Cameron Green closed out the final over clinically, removing impact sub Rahul Tewatia on the final ball to restrict GT to 218/4.
