Tiger Shroff firing case: four accused remain in police custody
The Tiger Shroff firing investigation will continue with four accused in police custody until October 28 after a Mumbai court extended their remand on Monday, October 26. Investigators said they needed additional time to examine phone material and obtain voice samples.
Kunal, Sumit, Radha and Babita were brought before Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate S Khedkar at Esplanade Court when their previous remand expired. They are among 11 people arrested over the attack on the actor’s car.
Police alleged that the four helped those who carried out the shooting. Investigators told the court that two pistols and ammunition linked to the offence had been recovered.
Defence challenges the need for further detention
Police said communications through Signal and material recovered from phones required verification. They alleged the devices contained photographs and videos relevant to the weapons and that the accused had contact with wanted suspect Anil Pandit.
Investigators also sought to establish the source of the firearms and any local assistance in Mumbai. Their account alleged that weapons were obtained in Amritsar and transported by train by the two women.
The defence opposed the application, saying police had already had sufficient opportunity to question the accused and recover evidence. Lawyers disputed the significance of photographs and conversations cited by investigators and argued that voice samples could be taken during judicial custody with court permission.
The court nevertheless allowed two more days in police custody. The Tiger Shroff firing occurred in Juhu on October 18, when at least two attackers allegedly shot at his car before leaving on a motorcycle.
The actor largely escaped injury, while his driver and a bystander were hurt. Police registered allegations including attempted murder under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and offences under the Arms Act.
