Trump Says Iran War Will End Whenever He Wants
US President Donald Trump has said that the ongoing conflict with Iran could end whenever he decides, while stressing that the military operation must achieve its objectives and ensure that Tehran never acquires a nuclear weapon.
When asked when the war with Iran would end, Trump responded, “Whenever I wanted to. But it's got to be done right.”
Reiterating his administration's position on Iran's nuclear programme, Trump said, “We are never going to let them have a nuclear weapon. It's got to be done right.”
Trump also addressed the impact of the conflict on fuel prices, acknowledging that he had anticipated a much sharper increase. “I knew the fuel would go up. I thought it would go up two or three times higher than it is,” he said.
Claiming that fuel prices were now declining, the US President added, “And now today it's coming down. The day before yesterday it dropped 10 points.”
His remarks come amid continued tensions surrounding the Iran conflict, with the duration of the military campaign, regional stability and the impact on global energy markets remaining key international concerns.
