Trump to Putin: Russia Must Make a Dea
US President Donald Trump has called for an immediate peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine, highlighting the heavy human cost of the ongoing conflict and expressing frustration over the continued fighting.
Speaking to reporters, Trump said that both Russia and Ukraine have suffered significant military casualties, claiming that around 35,000 soldiers were lost by the two sides combined in the past month alone. He described the scale of losses as unprecedented in recent decades and stressed the urgent need for a negotiated settlement.
Trump revealed that he recently spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin and indicated that further discussions were planned. While expressing confidence in his ability to broker international agreements, Trump acknowledged that tensions between the Russian and Ukrainian leadership remain a major obstacle to peace efforts.
“I settled eight wars. This was the one I thought was going to be the easiest to settle,” Trump said, adding that the deep-rooted hostility between the leaders of Russia and Ukraine has complicated negotiations.
The Russia-Ukraine war, which has continued for more than four years, remains one of the deadliest conflicts in Europe since World War II, with ongoing military operations, civilian casualties, and international diplomatic efforts aimed at securing a lasting ceasefire.
