“I Don’t Trust Iran,” Says Trump Amid Strait of Hormuz Tensions

US President Donald Trump has claimed that the United States currently has “total control” over the Strait of Hormuz, while expressing deep distrust of Iran and warning of a possible military response if Tehran takes further action.

“I don't trust Iran. I'm the last person who trusts Iran. They've lied to me constantly,” Trump said.

The US President further asserted that Iran no longer controls the strategically vital waterway. “We have total control over the Strait of Hormuz right now. They don't have control. We have total control. We own it,” he said.

Trump also issued a stark warning, saying that if Iran were to “do something,” the response could be severe. “At some point, maybe they'll do something and then they get blown away,” he said, while maintaining that the United States is currently “in a very good position.”

The Strait of Hormuz is a critical global energy route, making developments around the waterway closely watched by international markets and governments. Trump’s remarks come amid continued tensions between the United States and Iran.
