What Can Vijay Do If Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam Falls Short of 118 Majority in Tamil Nadu?

TVK Emerges as a Game Changer

Vijay and his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam have emerged as a major force in the Tamil Nadu elections 2026, reshaping the state’s political landscape. The party has dented the dominance of both Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.

According to trends from the Election Commission of India, TVK has won 13 seats and is leading in 95 more, taking its tally close to 108 seats. However, it still needs at least 10 more seats to cross the 118 majority mark in the Tamil Nadu Assembly.

Meanwhile, DMK is hovering around 60 seats, while AIADMK has secured about 45 seats. Smaller parties like Pattali Makkal Katchi, Indian National Congress, Indian Union Muslim League, and Communist Party of India hold a handful of seats, making them crucial in a close contest.

🤝 What If TVK Falls Short?

If TVK fails to reach the majority mark, Tamil Nadu could face a hung assembly. In such a scenario, Vijay may need to seek support from smaller parties or independents to form the government.

The Indian National Congress could play a decisive role, especially amid reports that some leaders had explored supporting TVK. Similarly, the Pattali Makkal Katchi, led by Anbumani Ramadoss, could become a key ally due to ideological flexibility.
