In a strong message ahead of polling, Manoj Kumar Agarwal, Chief Electoral Officer of West Bengal, assured voters that the Election Commission of India has taken comprehensive measures to ensure peaceful, transparent, and secure elections across the state.
Addressing concerns around election integrity, Agarwal emphasized that every polling booth is equipped with webcasting cameras, allowing real-time monitoring of proceedings.
“The Election Commission has taken all the initiative for peaceful elections. Every booth has a webcasting cam. Inside the booth, whatever is happening, we can see everything,” he stated.
He further highlighted the role of security forces, noting that the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) are fully briefed on their responsibilities to maintain order and regulate access at polling stations.
Observers have also been deployed across constituencies, continuously monitoring the situation on the ground. Agarwal himself indicated that he would personally visit polling locations to oversee arrangements.
Reinforcing the importance of voter participation, he urged citizens to exercise their democratic rights:
“This is your statutory right, kindly exercise your power.”
The Election Commission’s multi-layered approach—combining technology, security deployment, and active monitoring—is aimed at ensuring free, fair, and violence-free elections in West Bengal.
