West Bengal Textile Summit marked a significant push by the state government to attract fresh investments and strengthen industrial development.

Addressing the inaugural session of the summit at Milan Mela on Thursday, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari appealed to entrepreneurs and industrialists to invest in West Bengal, promising a stable business environment, improved infrastructure, and a government committed to supporting industries.

The Chief Minister also launched a sharp attack on the previous Left Front and Trinamool Congress governments, alleging that their policies had hindered the state's industrial and economic growth for decades. He asserted that West Bengal is now entering a new era of development under the present administration and invited businesses from across the country to participate in the state's transformation.

CM Suvendu Adhikari Invites Investment in West Bengal

Speaking at the West Bengal Textile Summit, Suvendu Adhikari said the state is witnessing a renewed focus on industrialisation and employment generation. He urged domestic and international investors to consider West Bengal as a preferred investment destination, highlighting the government's efforts to create a business-friendly ecosystem.

According to the Chief Minister, the administration is committed to ensuring transparency, faster approvals, and improved ease of doing business. He said investors would receive complete cooperation from the government throughout the project implementation process.

Adhikari stressed that the textile industry has immense potential to generate employment and contribute significantly to the state's economic development. He expressed confidence that investments in textiles would strengthen manufacturing, exports, and small and medium enterprises.

Criticism of Previous Left and TMC Governments

During his address, the Chief Minister accused the previous Left Front and Trinamool Congress governments of failing to promote industrial growth.
He claimed that West Bengal had moved backward during the 34 years of Left rule and the subsequent 15 years under the Trinamool Congress government.

According to Adhikari, the state lost several industrial opportunities because of policies that discouraged investment and weakened economic progress.

He stated that the current government aims to reverse this trend by creating an investor-friendly environment and accelerating infrastructure development.

Government Promises Stable Business Environment

Highlighting the government's industrial policy, Adhikari assured investors that law and order would remain a top priority.

He reiterated the government's commitment to maintaining peace and ensuring that industries can function without disruption.

"There will be zero tolerance for hooliganism. Invest in West Bengal. The state is ready to move forward, and you will witness significant changes over the next one to two years," the Chief Minister said.

He added that investor confidence depends on security, policy stability, and administrative support, all of which the government intends to provide.

Textile Sector Identified as Growth Engine
The West Bengal Textile Summit focused on positioning the textile and garment sector as one of the state's major economic drivers.

Government officials highlighted the sector's potential to generate large-scale employment, especially for skilled and semi-skilled workers. The administration also emphasised improving industrial infrastructure, expanding textile clusters, and encouraging private investment.

Officials said the government plans to strengthen connectivity, logistics, and policy support to help the textile industry compete in national and global markets.

Focus on Ease of Doing Business

The state government reiterated its commitment to improving the ease of doing business through administrative reforms and simplified procedures.

Key priorities include:

Faster project approvals
Improved industrial infrastructure
Transparent governance
Better connectivity
Investor-friendly policies
Strong law and order

Officials believe these initiatives will encourage long-term investments and accelerate industrial growth across multiple sectors.

Industry Leaders Attend Summit

The summit was attended by leading industrialists, textile manufacturers, business associations, investors, and senior government officials.

Discussions focused on expanding manufacturing capacity, attracting new investments, generating employment, and making West Bengal a competitive destination for the textile industry.

The government expressed confidence that the summit would strengthen partnerships between the public and private sectors while contributing to sustainable economic development.

The West Bengal Textile Summit reflects the state's renewed push to attract investments and revive industrial growth. By assuring a stable business environment, stronger infrastructure, and zero tolerance for disruptions, the government hopes to position West Bengal as a preferred destination for the textile industry and other manufacturing sectors.

Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari's address underscored the administration's focus on industrial expansion, employment generation, and long-term economic development while drawing a clear contrast with the policies of previous governments.
