Zverev: Jannik Sinner Is the World's Best Player
Alexander Zverev has praised Jannik Sinner as the best player in the world following their Wimbledon men's singles final, admitting the Italian remains the benchmark in men's tennis despite a fiercely contested championship match.
Reflecting on the rivalry, Zverev said he believes only a handful of players are capable of challenging Sinner consistently.
"Yeah, I think he's still the best player in the world. I do believe that. I do believe there's only two guys, maybe three guys—probably three with Novak. You have to give Novak that—who can challenge him."
Although disappointed by the defeat, Zverev felt encouraged by his performance and believes he is closing the gap on the reigning Wimbledon champion.
"I think I've challenged him today, not enough, because I still sit here as the loser of the match. But I will continue doing that."
The German star also expressed confidence that more opportunities lie ahead, with several major tournaments still to come this season.
"The big tournaments are still around the corner."
Despite falling short in the Wimbledon final, Zverev's comments reflected both respect for Sinner's current dominance and determination to continue competing for the sport's biggest titles.
