Xavi’s FC Barcelona bounced back from their midweek disappointment in Munich by comfortably swatting Elche aside on Saturday afternoon, winning 3-0 after the visitors went down to 10 men in the opening moments of the game.

Robert Lewandowski was the star man again with two more goals, while he was also involved in the key moment of the match as he was brought down as the last man by Gonzalo Verdu in the 13th minute, earning the Elche man an early dismissal.
A lovely move right round the edge of the area ended with Lewandowski poking home from close range.
Memphis doubled the lead with a fine twirl to dodge round John Nwankwo and slam in his first goal of the season, and it could have been three before the break but Pedri’s goal was chalked off for offside.
It wasn’t long after the restart that the Catalans did extend their lead. The manager-less Elche (coach Francisco had also been red carded) failed to deal with a moment of danger in their defence, and it was an easy finish for… It was that man once again! Eight league goals in six games for Lewandowski!
In the end, it finished 3-0, meaning the Catalan club sit top of La Liga Santander for the time being, ahead of the Madrid derby on Sunday.
