TMC expresses disappointment: Says views on number of phases not taken into account by EC
Following the announcement made today by the Election Commission regarding the dates of the forthcoming polls, West Bengal went into poll mode from Saturday afternoon and will remain in it till June when the last date of state polling takes place. The announcement of the schedule for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls by the Election Commission of India was made in New Delhi today.
The state of West Bengal, along with Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, will have maximum number of phases, seven. Notably, also in 2019, polling was held in seven phases in the state.
The two seats in Calcutta along with Jadavpur, Dum Dum and Barasat are set to vote on June 1, the last day. The poll results are scheduled be declared on June 4.
The Trinamul Congress responded sharply with unhappiness saying that the Election Commission has not taken into account the West Bengal government’s views on the number of phases.
