West Bengal CM-designate Suvendu Adhikari on Saturday described the formation of the first-ever BJP government in West Bengal as a “historic dawn,” marking a major political shift in the state’s history.
Taking to social media, Adhikari expressed pride and enthusiasm while welcoming Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Kolkata, often referred to as the City of Joy, on the occasion of the swearing-in ceremony.
A historic dawn for West Bengal indeed.

“A historic dawn for West Bengal indeed. It is a moment of profound pride and jubilation to welcome Visionary Leader PM Narendra Modi Ji,” Adhikari wrote.
Highlighting the significance of the moment, he said the swearing-in ceremony symbolizes the beginning of a new chapter, ending decades of what he termed “misrule” and ushering in a “Double Engine” government aimed at accelerating development, ensuring peace, and driving prosperity in the state.
Adhikari further emphasized that this milestone fulfills the long-cherished aspirations of the nation’s founding fathers and marks the official beginning of the ‘Sonar Bangla’ era — a vision of a prosperous and progressive West Bengal.
The BJP’s rise to power in West Bengal is being seen as a historic political transformation, with expectations of closer coordination between the state and the Centre under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi.
