Harry Kane’s landmark goal was the difference between the two sides as Antonio Conte’s side edged past Wolves 1-0 in a tough Premier League battle at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Following a below-par first half in which the visitors had the better opportunities, Tottenham Hotspur were much-improved after the break and finally penetrated Wolves’ purposeful defence thanks to Harry Kane’s header in the 64th minute. It was a significant strike for us as well as him, as it marked our 1,000th home goal in the Premier League.

Harry Kane has now netted 185 Premier League goals for Spurs, overtaking Sergio Agüero with Man City (184) for the most goals scored by a player for a single club in the competition. Legendary.

There wasn’t a great deal to shout about in the first period, with chances at a premium. The visitors had the first sight at goal when Goncalo Guedes’ deep corner was met with a sweet volley by Ruben Neves but it was straight at Hugo Lloris. Tottenham had plenty of the ball but lacked creativity and it wasn’t until just before half-time that Tottenham Hotspur carved out first effort on goal, Kane’s looping header from an Ivan Perisic cross heading for the top corner until Jose Sa leapt to tip it away.

And it was Kane who almost grabbed the opener six minutes after the restart as Tottenham Hotspur began the second half much brighter, a header from a Dejan Kulusevski cross hitting the crossbar. Antonio Conte’s side started to get on top at this stage, Heung-Min Son skewing wide when in on goal, Kane having a shot blocked and Son hitting the post from close range before the pressure finally told. Son’s corner was flicked on at the near post by Perisic and there was Kane at the back post to nod home his milestone goal.

Wolves always carried a threat and kept pushing plenty of players forward in the closing stages in search of their equaliser, but the closest they came was when Neves flashed a 25-yard free-kick a yard wide of Lloris’ post. Richarlison came on for his home debut in Tottenham Hotspur’s colours and was a menace in the final third with his desire to always drive at the Wolves defence. The second goal didn’t materialise but, in the end, it didn’t matter as Kane’s goal secured the points to maintain Tottenham Hotspur unbeaten start to the campaign.

Harry Kane said,” “Overall a really good day, a tough game but delighted with the three points.”

After the match Tottenham Hotspur coach Antonio Conte said ,”I said to the players that the first half was important to suffer together as a team, don’t concede chances, in the first half, I don’t remember a big save from Hugo. In the second half, we fixed some tactical situations and we pushed a lot with the pressure to defend with a higher line, created chances to score and in the end, I have to be pleased.”
