Adhir Suggests Mamata Merge TMC With Congress
Senior Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has made a political suggestion to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, proposing that she join the Congress party along with her remaining MPs and MLAs.
Speaking in Murshidabad, Chowdhury said he wanted to offer the suggestion directly to Mamata Banerjee while also urging the Congress high command to consider the possibility.
“Why not bring all her remaining MPs and MLAs and merge into the Congress?” Chowdhury said.
He further suggested that instead of pursuing other political manoeuvres, Banerjee could become a leader within the Congress and lead the party in West Bengal.
Chowdhury said that if Banerjee joined the Congress, he and other party members would be willing to fight alongside her and follow her leadership.
The remarks come amid continuing political developments in West Bengal and discussions over the future alignment of opposition forces in the state. Chowdhury's comments represent his own proposal and do not, by themselves, indicate any formal decision by either the Congress or the Trinamool Congress regarding a merger.
