Alex Eala Thanks Fans After Historic WTA Title

Fresh off becoming the first Filipina to win a WTA Tour singles title, Alex Eala delivered an emotional message of gratitude to her supporters following her memorable victory over world No. 3 Jessica Pegula in the 2026 Mubadala DC Open final in Washington.
Addressing the crowd during the trophy presentation, the 21-year-old thanked the Filipino community both in Washington and around the world for their unwavering support.

"To all my supporters, thank you guys. Especially the Filipino community. Here in DC and back home, wherever you are in the world. I really feel all the love."

Eala revealed that messages from her family and close friends before the championship match gave her immense confidence and perspective ahead of the biggest match of her career.

"Before the final yesterday, I got so many sweet messages from my family and my friends. I thought to myself, I feel so much love. Standing here in the middle of all this love, my first chance at a title, knowing it won't be my last."

The young tennis star added that reaching the final itself had already marked a significant milestone in her journey and that she viewed the experience as a victory regardless of the outcome.

"Already having achieved this feat and this milestone for my career, I knew that whatever would've happened after this match, it would've already been a win for me. Thank you everybody. I really look forward to seeing you guys again."

Eala completed a remarkable week in Washington by defeating Jessica Pegula in three sets to secure her maiden WTA singles title.
